Overview of Gerrit Jan Waaijenberg's descendants
Gerrit Jan Waaijenberg was the son of Henrick Derks op de Weijenberg (father) and Geesken Kolenberg (mother). There were 3 siblings, but they don't play a part in this story.
When Gerrit Jan was 6 years old, his father died. His mother remarried a man named Herman Jansen.
Then the unthinkable happened: barely 6 months after the mother remarried, she herself died too. This was in February 1729.
This leaves Gerrit Jan (who was still only 7 years old) with his stepfather Herman Jansen.
Then, later in 1729, his stepfather got married to Aeltjen Hissink.
Connection with Gerrit Aelberts
NOTE: Herman Jansen was the grandson of Gerrit Aelberts
One of the main family trees of this website, is the Gerrit Aelberts genealogy that I belong to, and also the tree that alle the Waayenbergs and Weyenbergs in Alberta and Michigan belong to.
So: Herman and Aeltjen were an important link in the chain of descendants of Gerrit Aelberts.
And while Herman was the stepfather of Gerrit Jan Waaijenberg, there were no blood ties; so these are two completely separated family trees.
But there is this strange non-blood-related link.
Gerrit Jan, his grandson Jacob and great grandsons Arend Jan, Arnoldus and Gerrit
Gerrit Jan had a son and a daughter. The daughter was called Geesjen and she was a single mom. She gave Gerrit Jan his only grandchild, a boy named Jacob.
Jacob had a lot of descendants.
Jacob's first three sons were Arend Jan, Arnoldus and Gerrit.
Arnoldus had one son and five married granddaughters,
but Arend Jan and Gerrit were the ones responsible for most of the descendants.
